In the Spring of 1964 through the Fall of 1965 the entire world turned it's attention towards New York and the great World's Fair that was being presented in Flushing Meadows, Queens. There were TV Shows, films and specials about this monumental Fair, why, even "The Flintstones" made a trip to the New York World's Fair from Bedrock in 1964! Well, though the world may have been all eyes, Johnny Carson was, clearly, all mouth.

This CD is an exact recreation of an extremely rare vintage recording from 1964. The original LP features Johnny Carson giving the listener a comic introduction and aural tour of New York City and the 1964-65 New York World's Fair as only Johnny could. Recorded during the run of the Fair and just a year or two after Johnny took over The Tonight Show from Jack Parr, this skewered view of NY and the fair is hilarious. Johnny really roasts "The Big Apple" and it's cabbies and inhabitants with sketches and monologues and "tours" of the different sections of the Fairgrounds commenting on the people, places and situations as he goes. Johnny's commentary is augmented by appropriate ambient sound effects, and an occasional sketch interlude with the help of other character actors to liven up the mix. Interestingly, not only is the material presented here entertaining, but surprisingly informative, too, even 40 years later.

The Quality of the CD is excellent. Not an MP3 CD. This disc is very listenable, taken from a very good quality vinyl pressing from 1964. The artwork has been cleaned up and reproduced with care and the CD comes in a standard size jewel case, complete with Johnny Portrait Cover, CD Case back with photos from "The Tonight Show" and even an insert that features a collage of New York City. All circa 1964.

Sadly, Johnny is now gone, but his warmth and humor live on in rare recordings like this one that display his very unique, oft times quirky but always hilarious observations and commentaries. And you can now own this very nice recreation CD for......
