An Extremely Rare Promotional LP Record from 1962!

I don't think there is a person on the planet who doesn't know who The Flintstones are and most of us "Baby Boomers" even remember it's prime time run and the birth of Pebbles in1962. But, what many of us have forgotten is what a really BIG deal it was and how much promotion surrounded this television birth! There was lots of secrecy about the weight and sex of the baby and audiences were asked to send in guesses as to the answers to these questions to win fabulous prizes and a trip around the world.

What I am offering here is a CD of rare promotional recordings from 1962 made by the original cast of Hanna Barbera's The Flintstones. You will here Alan Reed (Fred), Jean VanderPyl (Wilma), Mel Blanc (Barney Rubble), and Bea Benaderet (Betty Rubble) as well as a genial announcer, in numerous and humorous TV and Radio spots.

This record was sent as part of a press kit to Radio and Television stations by Screen Gems Television to introduce and promote several contests of the time surrounding the Fred and Wilma Flintstone's "Blessed Event". These spots have not been heard since 1962 and the fact that this was a very limited, industry promotional recording would indicate that there were few of these LPs made and even fewer surviving. This one was procured from a top Screen Gems executive of that era and it was discovered in excellent condition. The artwork on the cover is also derived from the press kit. A rare item indeed! Just click on the cover art above left to hear one of the spots as a RealAudio clip and you will be hooked!

This special CD is the perfect companion piece for the DVD set of The Flintstones Complete Third Season, the very season leading up to and introducing Pebbles to the cast.

In addition to the Baby Contest spots, I have also included a spot featuring Alan Reed as Fred Flintstone, inviting audiences to watch The Flintstones, next, on ABC and an extremely rare MASTER recording of a promotional song made for the introduction of Hoppy the Hopperoo to the cast of the Flintstones in 1964 called, what else, "The Hopperoo!" This is a real, vintage, Phil Spector sounding girl group, wanna be pop song of the mid sixties and a hoot, to boot!

This rare recording is an absolute must for ANY Flintstones, Television, Animation, Ideal Toys or Pebbles Flintstone fan, so, don't miss this rare opportunity to purchase this unique promotional recording from many years ago. I mean, can you believe Pebbles is 40? Where does the Millennia go?
